Subject Reigning Medals!

12 F-Teamers from Sri Lanka, New Zealand, England and Australia descended upon the Gold Coast for the 2018 Commonwealth Games, dominating at the Optus Aquatic at the Optus Aquatic Centre.

It was the Games of Australian trifectas with Zac Incerti involved in the first aussie 1-2-3, snatching bronze in the 50m backstroke final in a time of 25.06. The next night the excitement with senior Australian team member and Rookie F-Teamer Josh Beaver finishing closely behind Mitch Larkin and Bradley Woodward  to add another Coommonwealth Games bronze medal to his 2014 Games collection.


University of the Sunshine Coast swimmer Blake Cochrane is no stranger to international competitions having competed in 3 Paralympic Games and swimming in his third Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast. And he certainly knows how to find his way to the podium! Blake won Silver in the SM8 200IM and a Bronze in the SB8 100m breaststroke final.


Kiwi Daniel Hunter had an unbelievable race in the semis of the 100m freestyle, touching the wall in a time of 49.11 putting him through to the finals where he finished 8th, He also made it through to the 50m butterfly final, finishing 5th in a time of 23.87.

Jacob Peters was busy all week having made all three butterfly finals, touching the wall .13 seconds behind Daniel hunter to claim 7th in the 50m final. He had to share 5th place in the 100m butterfly final with Canadian Josiah Binnema and claimed 5th in the final of the 200m butterfly.

Logan Powell got it done. One event, one medal. Part of another Australian trifecta, Logan came third in the S9 100m backstroke final.


To finish off a sensational Commonwealth Games for our F-Teamers, Jack McLoughlin, a "star of the future" according to Kieren Perkins, made the swimming world sit up and pay attention with a Silver medal finish in the 400m freestyle and a Gold medal performance in the last individual race of the Games, the grueling 1500m freestlye. Jack lead for the entire race, from the first 50m until he touched the wall with a strong finish in a time of 14:47.09.
