For the past two weeks, Budapest, Hungary has been home to the world's best swimmers. divers and water athletes who have been competing in the 2017 FINA World Championships.

Each day of the competition, the excitement grew as records tumbled, PBs were smashed and the stars of the future had their first taste of a huge international meet. There was no exception to this when it came to the Funky Trunks and Funkita F-Team athletes racing for their countries.

UK F-Teamer, Max Litchfield had an incredible meet and came agonisingly close to a podium finish placing 4th in both the 200m IM and 400m IM, breaking the British record and Commonwealth record along the way. Max continues to break PBs as he pushes closer to becoming one of the best medley swimmers in the world and has set himself up for the Commonwealth Games in Australia, perhaps another head-to-head with Aussie F-Teamer Travis Mahoney is on the cards! Also a massive shout out to Slovenian and F-Teamer Richard Nagy who came 8th in the 400m IM final.

This was the first major meet for many athletes including F-Teamers Zac Incerti from Australia, Irish swimmer Brendan Hyland and Kiwi athlete Daniel Hunter. Incerti was 20th in the 100m back and posted 48.28 seconds with a flying start in the 4 x 100m freestyle relay final, though the Australians were subsequently disqualified. The international experience has set Zac up for Commonwealth Games selection and another huge year in 2018. Brendan Hyland came 44th in the 100m fly with a time of 53.80. Daniel competed in the 50m freestyle, swimming a time of 22.71 and finishing 38th.

UK F-Teamer Michael Gunning shook up the swimming world at Budapest by representing Jamaica for the first time in his swimming career, racing in the 200m butterfly, where he placed 35th with a time of 2:01.73. Michael's incredible efforts were noted for the 200m freestyle where he placed 43rd with a time of 1:50.00. This is the best placing for Jamaican man at the World championships since Olympian Allan-Roy Marsh (1984) competed at the 1982 Guayaquil Ecuador World Championships.

Our distance champ, Jack McLoughlin competed in 3 events over the 2 weeks, including the 5km Open Water event placing 23rd with a time of 55:05.80, the 800m Freestyle placing 13th with a time of 7:53.51 and 1500m Freestyle, where Jack placed 11th with a time of 15:01.55.

The Champs kicked off with the diving and, as the Diving Australia sponsor, Funky Trunks and Funkita swimwear was worn by the Australian team. Funkita athlete, Melissa Wu and her synchronised diving partner, Domonic Bedggood in his Funky Trunks placed 7th in the mixed platform synchro.
